Literature Text

It had been many months since I had left Booth at the airport in his army uniform. At first I thought it would be easy to leave him behind but since I met him I had found that I was often wrong.

I envied his carefree style of life, but a woman of science could never live such a life. I knew that there was evidence and proof to prove that something was either wrong or right. There were never any shades of gray, just black and white when it came to truth.

We grasped hands quickly and said our agonising farewells before I turned and left to go to Indonesia. I wondered, would I ever see Booth in his Federal Bereau of Investigation uniform ever again or would he prefer his lifestyle in the army and leave the FBI forever. If I believed in any god, perhaps Booth's god and his son Jesus Christ, I would have offered them a prayer that Booth would come back safely and I would see him in his FBI uniform once more; but believing in God was irrational and so I quickly put that thought out of my head.

I called Booth everyday for the first few months of my trip. I told him about the remains I had found and how much I loved Indonesia, even though I would much rather be at the Jeffersonian working with Booth on the latest murder case. This would only make it harder on him. In turn Booth told me about the time he was having training the upcoming soldiers. To my delight he said that he really did prefer his job with the FBI and that once his year was up he would be resuming his position with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

But soon I became too busy to call him and he was always too busy to call me so our communication came to a halt. I hardly noticed that we had stopped speaking until the well-meaning but slightly irritating Daisy starting talking about Doctor Sweets and Booth. She still missed Lance a great deal despite a mutual decision to end their engagement. She was sad for days but always worked hard to complete the appropriate level of work for the day with minimal distraction. Even though I did mean to call Booth I never quite got around to it. Somehow I was always busy and always doing something else with my time.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before I knew it my time in Indonesia was almost up. I was only two months from the end of my one-year contract. Daisy was a confused muddle of feelings, she was thrilled to be going home but devastated to leave all of her new friends and quality research behind.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the one-year contract Daisy and I had become quite good friends. She and I would go to dinner sometimes and discuss the research we had found currently and occasionally share a few drinks together, and by the time we reached the ten-month time period she had managed to get us dates. I was very reluctant to accept, I was here on business of course, and I did not really want to go on a date with anyone at this point in time. Daisy just kept whining and eventually I gave into her nagging.

She had found us two men with very symmetrical features.
"I dibs the one with the blond hair!" Daisy whispered leaning onto me.
"I don't know what that means…" I replied quickly.
"It means I get him."
"Mhmm…" I replied slowly.

The men walked over and introduced themselves. The man with the blond hair was Dominick. He was very handsome, but his nose was slightly crooked and his smile was uneven. He was fairly tall and broad shouldered, just like Booth.

"Wait! STOP THINKING ABOUT BOOTH! You are on this date with…. Umm" I thought to myself.

"Hi, I am Simon," came a deep voice.
"Hi, my name is Daisy and this is Temperance Brennan."
"Doctor Temperance Brennan," I added when I had quickly snapped out of my thoughts.

His face was a lot more symmetrical than Dominick's and his hair was darker. It was a dark brown, just like Booth's.

I sighed silently in my head. This had to come to an end.

By the end of the dates Daisy was already kissing Dominick while Simon and I sat there talking. We had hardly anything in common except we were both currently in Indonesia.

It was only ten o'clock and Daisy and her date were excusing themselves from the restaurant. Simon laughed at his friend, but I was not the least bit amused. This was illogical, she did not even know the man and she was intoxicated.

Simon came closer to me, but I just moved away subtly. I did not like him that much and his breath carried a putrid smell of alcohol.

An hour passed and our conversation had moved into an awkward state. I felt awkward and he was almost too intoxicated to be of enjoyable company. His words came out slurred and spluttered. This was definitely not attractive at all.

"Simon, your company has been interesting, perhaps another time we can talk further. Goodbye," I lied. It was highly unlikely that he and I would ever talk again and should the opportunity arise I would not take it willingly.

He did not even get the chance to say his own goodbye after I had left the restaurant and headed quickly to my apartment.

That was my only dating experience in Indonesia.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next month passed with no excitement. I found several pieces of human remains and other objects of significance and they were all documented appropriately.

Daisy never heard from Dominick again, but it did not really concern her at all.

It was the last day for Daisy and I in Indonesia. We were busy packing away all of our belongings when I heard a beeping noise. It was my laptop. I had received an email. I stood there for a short moment deciding whether or not to open the email now or wait until I had finished packing the suitcase before opening the email.

My curiosity had over-taken me and I found I was walking over to the computer to open the email. I looked at the email. Sender: Seeley Booth. I could hardly get the mouse pointer to the 'OPEN' button fast enough.

Hey Bones,
Tomorrow is my last day with the army I am so excited! I have so much to tell you! The army has offered me another year to train troops but after just one year with them I'm positive I don't want to work here anymore.

Don't get me wrong I love serving my country and savin' lives but I just don't like all the death that we have to deliver. Besides… I still haven't completed my FBI Goal…

Well I can't wait to see you two days from now! Remember to meet me there!

Cya round,
Booth.

My heart leaped when I read the letter. Two days and I would see my partner again! Just two days. I hastened the reply.

Hey Booth!
I haven't heard from you in a while. I am sorry that I neglected to call you more often but I have had a lot of work that had to be finished urgently. I am thrilled that you have sent me this email!

Yes, I have remembered the promise we had made two days short of two years ago. How could I forget? Don't be late.

From,
Dr. Temperance (Bones) Brennan

Soon I would see him again! I smiled and finished packing my bags.
Okay so after the season final of Bones Season 5 I decided to make my own fanfic! Enjoy!
